Throughout the program, our faculty challenge students to think critically, analyze problems, and effectively acquire and integrate knowledge, strategies and key technologies to solve the business problems faced by IT management. MSIST is a STEM-designated degree program.

And with the huge quantities of digital information being collected and exchanged in today’s marketplace, the demand for trained data scientists is higher than ever. The STEM-designated Data Science Program at GW's Columbian College of Arts and Sciences prepares students to meet that need and enter competitive careers in government, technology, private industry and much more. Data Science, and the associated areas referred to as big data and data analytics, is a rapidly emerging technology field fueled by the dramatic growth in the amount of data involved in most areas of society. The graduate certificate in data science program allows students to study fundamental ideas that underlie large data systems and document a knowledge base for work in data intensive jobs. Through a structured curriculum that provides foundational knowledge as well as application skills, students in the Data Science program learn how to confront the most complex problems across both government and private industry using data-driven decisions.

ASCP Board of CertificationThe American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP BOC) is the gold standard in global certification for medical laboratory professionals and has certified nearly 600,000 individuals. We are the first and largest certification agency. Since our inception in 1928, the BOC continues to set a high standard for quality and continuing competency.

General Vessey Graduate Endowment Fellowship AwardThe fellowship is being created to recognize the importance of conflict prevention in an increasingly complicated and dangerous world. Established in 2007 by General John W. Vessey, USA (Ret.). The income earned by this fund will provide support for graduate students in the School of Business with preference given to disabled US veterans.
Dean’s ListA dean's list is an academic award, or distinction, used to recognize the highest level scholarship demonstrated by students in a college or university and is often synonymous with honor roll and honor list. Generally, students enrolled in college or university would need to satisfy a series of specific requirements before receiving the dean's list. As such, a dean's list and its direct derivatives are usually intended for students that demonstrate highest scholarship across multiple disciplines, and not necessarily bound to a specific field of study.
